How exams / tests work
Exams refer to official exams that take place once or twice a year. The end of year reports show results from official exams only.
Progressive Tests works exactly the same as exams except that it's not official meaning the end of year reports will not show these progressive tests. Furthermore, teachers can add progressive tests from teacher portal whereas official exams can only be added by admins.
Key points for exams:
- Only system admins can add official exams.
- Teachers can enter the results from teacher portal if the status of the exam is "open"
- The results are shown on end of year/end of term reports.
Key points for progressive tests:
- System admins and teachers can add progressive tests.
- This is usually used to test students on a subject they've just finished. Some prefer to have monthly or bi-weekly progressive tests on the work they did that period.
- The results are not shown on reports.
- Progressive charts are available for these tests in the teacher's portal.
- Parents can also view progressive tests results from the parent portal.
Important note:
Whether it's an official exam or a progressive test, each one will have "tests" within the exam. The word 'test' is used with 2 contexts:
- Progress test
- The tests that an exam/progressive test is made up of within subjects.
